There is a full moon riding high in the sky, and I thought it might be a good time to talk about

something seasonal, something Halloweenish something marginally creepy and something that has to do both with

Mormonism as well as with literature.

First a little bit about me and Mormonism. As you know I was

baptized in 1978 and immediately became an ardent student of Mormonism. I lived through the 1980s in the LDS Church when a seismic

shift was occurring in information that was coming forward about the early days of Joseph Smith and by the early

days I mean the Joseph Smith that existed prior to the organization of the church in

1830 and prior to his assuming his prophetic mantle as the leader and president of the
