Hey everybody. So today we're going to introduce you to Rachel Jeff's. And if the name Jeffs

rings a bell, here's why.

You may know about the FLDS Church, the fundamentalist church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which for years, for decades, has believed in and engaged in polygamy and has long been facing allegations of human trafficking, sex abuse, and a number of other horrific things.

And in 2011, their leader, Warren Jeffs, he was arrested, and he has since been convicted of two counts of sexual assault of a child.

And that's why that name Jeffs probably rings a bell, because Rachel Jeffs is actually

one of Warren's daughters.

He has more than 40 children.

And she managed to escape the group after years of abuse.

And so in this conversation, she talks really openly and with a lot of candor, honestly,

about what the escape was like.

And she also talks with me about her uncle, Lyle Jeffs.

He was one of the folks inside the FLDS who worked really hard to try to keep her from escaping,

to try to keep her inside the walls of this group.

So she has an incredible story of survival, bravery, and it's really about her standing up to a group that was giving women no voice.

This is a really interesting conversation from a woman who has been through some horrific things and has managed to come out on the other side and is now a speaker

and an author and has a lot of things to say that I think a lot of people need to hear.

I'll start by saying I know that this is not easy stuff to talk about, so I appreciate your candor and your honesty in talking about this.
