Hey there,

You may have noticed, we've been keeping a slower pace for the last few months — publishing every three weeks instead of every two — since Dan recovered from COVID.

And every-three-weeks is gonna stay our default for now. Putting out the show more often was wrecking Dan's health, and some important behind-the-scenes work just wasn't getting done.

When we slowed down the podcast release schedule, we also suspended the First Aid Kit newsletter, which compiles our most-useful information for dealing with the out-of-control medical system.

Starting today, First Aid Kit is back — publishing monthly instead of every-other-week. (We're telling you, Dan was pushing too hard before.)

0:00.0	Hey there, quick update or two, a couple of weeks ago, I woke up with a plan.
0:04.7	I had a bunch of interviews lined up that day for a pretty straightforward story we were
0:08.8	planning to release today, was a story about nursing homes and debt.
0:13.0	And as that day went on with pretty much every interview, that story kept looking less
0:19.3	and less straightforward.
0:20.7	So here are some quick excerpts from those interviews.
0:24.0	This is so complicated.
0:25.9	It's a little more of a complicated process for each situation is different.
0:29.9	The story went back farther than I'd imagined.
0:32.5	That's how it started in February 1977.
0:35.9	So trying to enforce the law has been like my life's work.
0:40.8	By the end of the day, I was like, this is a great story.
0:44.1	And we are not going to be able to do justice to it by October 20th.
0:49.4	And a year ago, I would have been like, okay, well, what else have we gotten to
0:52.2	hopper that I can execute quickly?
0:54.0	But about six months ago, things changed.
0:56.9	I got COVID.
0:58.0	I mean, medically, I was okay after two, three weeks, but it knocked the stuffing out
1:02.6	of me for a lot longer than that.
1:04.6	And to give me a chance to catch up, we pulled our publishing schedule back from every two
1:08.2	weeks to every three weeks.
1:10.2	And recently we decided that's going to be our default schedule for a while.
