There is a young brother that caught my eye. He was brought to my attention by a buddy

of mine and believe it or not this guy is turning heads and making some noise and I like

that. That's kind of the brand I kind of play under is if you're turning heads and making

noise and getting people to pay attention that's always a good thing. His name is Benjamin

Backer, Benji for short. He's the president and founder of the American Conservation Coalition.

The senior at the University of Washington, he serves on the Wisconsin Conservative

Energy Forum's leadership council and is a fellow at the Chapman Center in Seattle. He

previously served as the co-chair for young Americans from Mitt Romney and Wisconsin and

he has been awarded the Grist 50 Forbes 30 under 30, Red Alert 30 under 30 and Green

Biz 30 under 30. He said this brother is doing the 30 under 30 thing. Your generation,

in particular, believe in climate science and want to live in a cleaner future. How are

you focusing that narrative for, I guess, the issue of climate change broadly but more

specifically to bring more conservatives to the conversation with a high degree of seriousness

and not just the knee jerk political responses? Yeah, well that's a great question and really

on the youth end you hit it right on the head. I mean young people regardless of their

political affiliation have climate change in their top five issues and most of them put

it their top three and actually according to a lot of polling most of them put it as their

top issue when they go to the ballot box. And so if you want to win youth voters you have

to take care of environmental issues and it can't just be talking about it. Young people

are sick of politicians just talking about things and not doing anything about it and you
