That's right.

First board president of the National Black Justice Coalition.

What was that about?

What was the work in that space, gear tours?

Well, originally it started because of this issue of marriage equality back in 2003.

Mass juices became the first day to legalize same-sex marriage.

And there was a lot of division of opinion about that in the black community, but I saw

there were a lot of African-American pastors on television who were condemning it.

But there wasn't anybody who was really speaking out in favor of marriage equality in the

public sphere.

So we created an organization to fight both racism and homophobia and black and brown communities
