Hey friends, welcome to my first quick response episode in which I respond briefly to popular

claims I see online that sound good and draw in a lot of Christians but fail from a biblical

0:17.5

and or logical perspective. For our first one, I want to respond to a tweet from

0:22.7

Reverend Benjamin Kramer, a progressive Christian on X who has quickly been gaining influence with a lot of

0:28.2

people. Here's the post. He says, quote, Dear Christian, if your religion is really about saving souls,

0:36.1

then you wouldn't demand for it to be legislated. Because making

0:39.4

someone follow your religion by force of law against their will is an extremely effective way to

0:44.3

ensure they reject your God in their hearts. End quote. Well, let's break this down. Kramer's short

0:50.8

wouldn't be about something else is a false dichotomy. Any given religion is really about many

1:09.6

interrelated claims regarding the nature of reality.

One might say, for example, that Christianity is about a sovereign and holy God who created

1:17.8

the universe in mankind, that mankind was created with the ability to choose between right

1:22.5

and wrong, and that we chose to rebel against God, that God himself entered the world to reconcile

1:27.2

us to him through

1:28.0

the cross, and much more. To boil Christianity down to being really about saving souls

1:33.8

is a gross oversimplification of many interconnected truths taught in Scripture that can't

1:38.6

be pitted against one another. God's concern for the righteous functioning of society

1:43.8

runs throughout the Bible and is part of what Christianity is about.

1:48.9

That's not logically at odds with Christianity, also being about salvation.

1:53.7

So this is just a logic issue.
