Summary

This episode is... mind blowing! I got goosebumps so many times and had to edit out my hundreds of "WOW" remarks (I couldn't help myself!). I really struggled to pick a title because nothing could succinctly summarise how interesting, engaging, informative, inspirational and truly unbelievable her story is. You've probably heard of The Quick Flick by now (winged eyeliner stamp for those who haven't), and maybe even her new venture Beauty Fridge. Iris Smit is only 24 and has managed to build a $15 million dollar empire in 2 years. From the outside, everything seemed perfect. Booming business; long term relationship; dream car; dream life, right? Despite every box being ticked, Iris was unhappier than she'd ever been. After experiencing horrific trauma as a child, she had no identity, no control, nothing to call her own and subsequently felt completely numb. It's the story of what came next that truly blew my mind in more ways than one. I won't spoil it because it deserves to be heard in context and in its entirety. Thank you so much to Iris (@irisjade, @thequickflick, @beautyfridge) for joining me on the podcast, I think this will remain one of my favourite episodes for a very long time x

Hey guys, welcome back. This episode is so many things. Like, I really struggled picking a title for this

0:36.4

episode because it felt like nothing could really do it

0:39.8

justice. I'll be honest, I went into this thinking it would be a certain way. Like, Ira Smith is to me

0:46.0

such an inspiration. She started the quick flick back in 2017 and the company is all hers. It not like you know privately funded with this big investment

0:57.8

team like it's all her the quick flick and her new venture beauty fridge combined are now worth

1:03.7

like 15 million dollars she's got a team of like 30 people it's huge like what she's done what

1:10.2

she's created for herself is mind-blowing. And

1:12.6

that's honestly really why I wanted to interview her in the first place. It's like, you're such a

1:18.8

lovely person and you've created this empire for yourself. Like, I want to get inside your brain. Like,

1:24.6

how does it work? Have you done it? Like, what have you learned along the way? But when we actually got to talking, there was like a whole other level to her that

1:33.2

I had no idea about. And she has gone through so much, like some really, really dark stuff.

1:41.5

And her evolution and her growth and her journey out of that is so insightful and informative

1:50.0

and so helpful for so many people it's like there were so many aha moments I kept getting

1:57.1

goosebumps she was telling me these stories and I'm like, you're, you're kidding.

2:04.9

Like, it was just, yeah, I can't wait for you to listen to it. I don't want to give too much away. I think the timing of this podcast is perfect. It's the new year. We all want to put our

2:11.1

best foot forward and so much of the advice given in this episode, or not even advice,

2:17.0

just like helpful tips and tricks and habits

2:20.8

and just there's so much information in this podcast that can help you to do that to start

2:25.7

the year off right. So I'm so thankful to Iris for coming on and being vulnerable and sharing
