Well, thank you for being here.

Yeah, thanks for coming. Yeah, I'm excited to bring quick chats with Cam to the Hill. Yeah, to my booth in my office here at the Capitol. Getting Jersey vibes. Yeah, exactly. I love the diner vibes. So I want to chat first. You have opened up about your father having Alzheimer's. And this is something I've spoken with many people with my grandfather passed from Alzheimer's.

0:23.0

And, you know, we just did an episode on this exact topic on like the sandwich generation and caregiving and how intense it is.

0:30.2

What has that experience been like for you over the past year since your father's diagnosis?

0:34.4

Yeah, it's been overwhelming.

0:36.3

I mean, this last year has been, you know,

0:38.7

the most difficult year I've had in quite some time. I mean, you know, I got an eight-year-old and a

0:44.1

10-year-old, and, you know, that's always just adding new drama into the mix. But, yeah, my father is,

0:58.9

we were not prepared for this. You is, we were not prepared for this. Yeah, we were not prepared that he would decline so fast. I mean, a couple weeks ago, I took him to a doctor's appointment and,

1:03.9

like, I had to teach him how to use a seatbelt. Like, he just didn't understand what it was.

1:08.7

And like, and it's not just the Alzheimer's. He also can't walk anymore.

1:12.6

He was a polio survivor, but he's become, you know, absolutely, completely disabled.

1:17.6

So it's just, it's compounding, but it's not just the concern about the care for him.

1:23.6

Like, I wish it was just about this question of like, what is the best care for my father?

1:28.1

But it's also, unfortunately, this question of what is the best care for my father that I can afford?

1:33.5

Right.

1:34.1

And that's just a heartbreaking place to be because, like, you want to be able to give your loved ones the best, right?

1:40.3

But I can't afford that.

1:43.1

And now I, it's pulling away money that I was hoping to be

1:48.0

able to save up for my kids. And I can't save for their college fund anymore because of just

1:52.6

our expenses. So there's just a lot of, a lot of things that I feel like are colliding right now in my

1:57.9

life. I want to talk about that because you've mentioned that there's a lot of red tape and
