Turn with me, if you would, to 1 Peter, Chapter 3.

First Peter chapter 3, we began a few weeks ago on a series we're calling questions about healing.

And this text is the truth that explains why we're talking about some of these things.

First Peter, three, and 16, I believe it is.

No, that's not it.

Second Peter is what I should have told you.

Second Peter 3, 16.

He's talking about Paul and the wisdom that God had given him.

Peter is by the Spirit. And he said, verse 16, also in all his

epistles, speaking in them of these things in which are some things hard to be understood,

which they that are unlearned and unstable rest as they do also the other scriptures until their own destruction.

You therefore, beloved, seeing you know these things before, beware lest you also being led

away with the error of the wicked fall from your own steadfastness.

But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

To him be glory both now and forever.

Amen.

Look at the amplified version of verse 16.

Verse 16.

It says, the ignorant and unstable twist and misconstrue to their own utter destruction just as they distort and misinterpret the rest of the scriptures.

There were then, there are now, people who twist the scriptures and make them say things that the Lord's not saying.

And the result is their own destruction.

Does it matter whether you rightly divide the scripture or not?
