Hello everyone and welcome to Slash Film Daily for Thursday, March 16th,

0:03.6

2023 on today's episode of the show. We are going to be talking about the

0:06.8

latest film and TV news. My name is Ben Pearson, I'm an editor at slash film

0:10.4

com, and I'm joined on today's episode by slash film editor and chief

0:13.6

film critic Chris Evangelista. Hello. Chris I think it's time for us to

0:19.1

finally reunite for an old school news episode.

0:22.8

It's been a while since you and I have done one of these,

0:24.5

but there's actually a decent amount of movie news

0:27.8

breaking over the past, let's call it, week.

0:30.8

So let's get into it. One of the first things that I want to talk about is

0:34.4

Quentin Tarantino is evidently lining up what may or may not be his final

0:39.3

movie, which is I think we're going to be called the movie critic and filming I think begins this fall.

What was your reaction when you heard about this Chris because obviously Tarantino is like one of your guys.

0:53.0

Yeah, I'm excited for this.

0:55.0

I also know that when and if this happens, film Twitter will explode because none of them,

1:01.0

no one knows how to react properly to

1:03.6

Quentin Tarantino movies and the fact that this is about a film critic is gonna have

1:08.0

uh like I said film Twitter is gonna be like no what's he doing with this movie and it's going to be a real

1:15.3

shit shell I can't wait it's going to be exciting I saw somebody in our slack say is

1:20.2

this going to be the first time that somebody makes a movie involving a critic character that doesn't like actively loathe movie critics.

1:29.0

And that was, I thought an interesting observation because they're so, like Birdman I think is probably the key example off the top of my head of a movie where there's a stand-in for you know a movie critic I think it's a theater critic in that film, and it's basically just an excuse for that director to use that character as a punching bag and like, you know, air all of his grievances with critics that he's encountered over the years.

1:55.2

Tarantino does not strike me as somebody who, you know, he like actively reads
