| 0:00.0 | What's up everyone? This is Alex Lieberman, co-founder and CEO of Morning Group coming to you with another episode of the Founders Journal, my public diary where I talk about the wins, the losses, the challenges of running a media business as a first-time co-founder |
| 0:16.0 | and today we talk about two very important things. |
| 0:19.0 | One is about getting my first one-star rating on my podcast and the emotional windfall that |
| 0:25.2 | happened after seeing that rating and the second is commenting on partnerships |
| 0:30.7 | and what what are good examples of partnerships and what do I look for when striking partnerships with Morning Brew? |
| 0:36.0 | And this was inspired from seeing the Reisten Partnership between ESPN and Peloton. |
| 0:41.0 | So let's hop into it. |
| 0:45.0 | My first question to bring you into this, |

| 0:49.6 | but if you can go back to when Morning Brew is smaller and earlier on and younger in our existence, |
| 0:55.4 | what your perspective on Partnerships was and was it hard to get them? |
| 0:59.5 | Which ones did you try and do but might have failed? |
| 1:01.9 | Let's go back to the beginning. |

| 1:14.6 | Like now we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a month on Facebook ads, Instagram |
| 1:19.8 | ads, buying ads, and other email newsletters, but we didn't have that luxury at the time. |
| 1:24.0 | So basically our growth as a business was either from our college ambassador program, |
| 1:31.2 | people referring other people with their referral link with Morning Brew, or it was |
| 1:35.6 | partnerships with other newsletters or media companies. |
| 1:38.3 | You know, for us, what we gravitated towards was partnerships with other email newsletters because we very quickly learned that when you partner with someone on a like medium, it is way more fruitful. |
| 1:51.3 | So if you have a podcast and you do a cross promotion or partnership with another podcast, you will likely see stronger results than if you are a podcast that had partnered with an email newsletter. |
