| 0:13.0 | Welcome back to another episode of the Nutrition Science Podcast. |
| 0:16.3 | I'm your host, Dr. Adrian Chavez, and today we have a Q&A episode. |
| 0:20.3 | We are going to be covering three topics on this |
| 0:22.5 | show. The first topic that we're going to discuss is whether or not soy has a negative impact on hormones. |
| 0:27.8 | This is a claim that I see made quite often, and it causes a lot of people to be fearful of |
| 0:34.1 | consuming soy. So we're going to discuss whether or not there's any basis for this |
| 0:37.9 | claim and if there's any concern that you should have with consuming any amount of soy when it |
| 0:42.5 | comes to hormones. The second thing that we're going to discuss is whether or not you need one |
| 0:47.4 | gram of protein per pound of body weight. This is another claim that I see being made quite often |
| 0:52.4 | on social media and elsewhere, and we're going to |
| 0:54.9 | discuss whether or not that is appropriate or excessive or not enough. And the third thing that we're |
| 0:59.8 | going to discuss is whether or not it's okay to have coffee when you wake up on an empty stomach. |
| 1:04.4 | This is another claim that I have been getting asked about quite frequently recently, |
| 1:08.0 | and we're going to discuss what the claims are around drinking coffee on an empty stomach and whether or not this is something that you may want to avoid. Before we jump into the show, I know many of you who are regular listeners may have noticed that I haven't published an episode in a couple of weeks. And this is largely because it's summertime and my son has been home from school for the last couple of weeks. For those you who don't know, I am a single parent. I have full custody of my son. He lives with me full time and he's been with me home full time for a couple of weeks and I am just not able to keep on top of everything in terms of content creation during that time. I always have great intentions to batch content ahead of time for when these circumstances come up. But during the school year, my son is with me 100% of time, and it's quite difficult for me to get ahead with batching content during this time. But he does leave for the summer for a couple of months. And my goal this summer is to batch some content for these times when I'm not able to keep up with the weekly episode. So I appreciate your patience with that if you're |
| 2:01.4 | been waiting on a new episode and you haven't seen one. You're wondering why. That's why. |
| 2:05.2 | So let's go ahead and get into the content of this episode. So the first topic that we're |
| 2:09.8 | going to discuss is whether or not soy has a negative impact on hormones. I get this question so |
| 2:15.1 | often. So I've done a podcast on soy and the health effects of soy previously. |
| 2:18.9 | I recommend checking out that episode. I talk about it more, the hormonal impact more in that |
