On today's Q&A, I'm going to answer a question I've received multiple times in the last few weeks,

0:05.1

and I have a feeling a lot of you are planning your garden layouts like I talked about on Tuesday's episode.

0:10.3

But the question is, what direction should my trellises face when it comes to vertical gardening?

0:17.3

This will depend on what kind of a trellis that you have.

0:21.0

You may have just a single vertical trellis like a cattle panel,

0:24.8

or you can have something like an a frame trellis like I have or an arch trellis like I also have

0:30.0

and you may have seen online.

0:31.6

And to me, you have a little bit more flexibility with the simple vertical trellis.

0:36.9

You can put it several different places. I would just focus if you have that simple vertical trellis, you can put it several different places.

0:39.3

I would just focus if you have that simple vertical trellis on making sure that you don't

0:49.1

northern hemisphere, if you're in the southern hemisphere, switch all this. You don't want anything

0:53.7

planted there because it's not going to get enough sun. And so if you can in the southern hemisphere, switch all this. You don't want anything planted there

0:54.2

because it's not going to get enough sun.

0:56.7

And so if you can plant it where anything below it

0:59.3

is going to be on the south or east or west side,

1:01.6

that's going to be ideal for a plain vertical trellis.

1:04.7

But I'm getting more questions on how to orient

1:07.2

trellises like my A-frame trellis or an arch trellis

1:10.5

where there's actually two different sides.

1:13.0

I have always planted my plants on my a frame trellis where each side of the a frame trellis is facing

1:21.4

one side's facing east and one side's facing west. So that's the way that this has oriented
