If you have multiple planting areas, for instance, multiple raised beds and you want to do a soil test, do you need to do a soil test for each raised bed?

This was a question I received from Facebook, I believe, after I shared a YouTube video where I demonstrated how to use a new soil testing company that I use this year called Soil Kit.

Just a little bit of a backstory. I typically test my soil once per year. I do it with my local

county extension service because here in Arkansas soil tests are free. But I've heard from a lot of

you guys that they're not free in your area or maybe your

local county extension service is not as close to your home as it is to mine and it's just

not really all that convenient to do it that way and you're not really sure what your other

options are.

I really didn't have a good answer for that until this company called Soil Kit contacted me

and they asked me to test their soil kit.

It's basically a soil test in a box.

They send you a box with a soil test in it along with instructions on how to do it.

You take samples of your soil, you put it in the bag they provide, and then you mail it off.

It's in a prepaid envelope. And then once they receive it, they test the soil. They send you an email,

and then you log into your dashboard, and you're able to view the results. Not only that,

but the results that they suggest are organic, which is something I've never been able to get with my local cooperative extension service.

I hope that changes someday.

But for now, that was always a big sticking point for me

because I want to be able to amend my soil with organic methods,

not have to figure out how to convert their non-organic recommendations.
