0:00.0	On today's Q&A, I'm going to switch it up a little bit and share with you a question I asked someone this week.
0:08.0	You may recall from episode number 80 called 12 Garden Rules that I have been emailing back and forth with this gentleman for years, and he and I have been sharing tips back and forth.
0:20.6	One thing that I have really enjoyed
0:22.8	about learning about his garden is how successful he is at container gardening, specifically with
0:31.1	his tomatoes and peppers. This is an area that I have not put a whole lot of effort into because
0:37.3	I have such a large raised bed
0:39.5	in in-ground garden containers are just really not a priority and haven't really been a priority
0:45.3	before. But this year I'm trying it again. I'm trying to grow some tomatoes and some peppers
0:51.4	in containers. Specifically, I have most of them in grow bags.
0:55.2	Actually had a few extra grow bags and I also planted some sweet potatoes in there as well.
0:59.9	So this is something that I'm doing new this year. Well, I say new because I'm trying to actually
1:05.6	succeed at it this year instead of it being an afterthought. And so I emailed him this question. And I think it's a
1:13.0	question that many of you, if you are growing any kind of vegetables in containers, you probably
1:18.2	have as well. Here's what I said. I'm experimenting with tomatoes and peppers in grow bags. Do you
1:25.5	fertilize during the season? And if so, how often and with what?
1:30.4	He gave me quite a long, detailed answer. It is so good. I'm just going to read it to you because I
1:36.7	don't think that I could really summarize it as well as what is the way he put it. And this is what he said.
1:42.4	Whether it be tomatoes or peppers, most definitely more fertilizer than my in-ground plants,
1:48.0	since regular watering sends those nutrients out the drain holes.
1:53.0	On the watering, I am now watering my cucumbers and jalapinos, which are getting full sun, every day.
1:59.0	I water with the nozzle setting on shower until I get to the
2:02.9	count of 100. Those vining type plants like cucumbers and my five-year-old jalapeno trees demand a lot of water.
