So the interesting thing about what's happening here is previously I thought that the big talk out of

them was really to get to a negotiating position from a place of strength and we were going to get

this negotiated and get out of there. I never thought Trump was going to be able to do it in a day,

but I certainly thought that he'd be able to wrap it up pretty quickly. Now my mental model is very much Putin has absolutely no desire to end the war, that he's

turned his economy over to a wartime engine.

He's made promises to his people.

My mental map, if I'm being very honest, is that he has territorial ambitions, that this isn't just about pushing back on the NATO expansion.

This just feels like somebody who doesn't want the exit ramps.

He's being offered.

He wants USSR back.

Yeah, that he, that for sure he is posturing publicly as if he's interested in peace, but then doing absolutely nothing to move towards that, which then tells me, okay, the public facing stuff is just completely irrelevant. naive. I was projecting my own value system onto Putin. All the rhetoric from Trump about we just

want the killing to end. Like that resonated with me so hard that I just paint that onto everybody.
