Summary

In this episode of After Hours With Amanda, I’m talking about people over productivity and the way we measure ourselves and each other by what gets done, what gets missed, and which balls get dropped. After months of pain and recovery, I started thinking about how quickly we take things personally instead of asking what might be going on. This is a long voicemail about motherhood, friendship, mental health, hot lunch, tiny queens, boundaries, empathy, and remembering that we are all more than our checkboxes. If you have felt behind, quiet, overwhelmed, or not enough, sit with me for a bit.

And I have to tell you the jitters that I get staring at myself. It's not like making a podcast,

0:19.9

it's not, well, like recording it without the video. It's not like making a podcast, y'all. It's not, well, like recording it

0:22.3

without the video. It's not like a TikTok where it's a quick video. It's like just, hi.

0:28.3

So I have to tell you, though. First off, we went to the mall this weekend. I've been to the

0:32.4

mall in forever. I have a Mickey blanket on my chair. I I've been to the mall in like a real hot minute.

0:39.5

Okay. I think I went right before Christmas and I was in so much pain. I was like, let's not make

0:45.5

this truck again, but it was pretty empty because if I'm going to a mall, I'm going on a go at 9 a.m. I would, y'all. I am that mall walker. Okay. I worked in a mall for a hot

0:56.6

minute. And by that, I mean like a decade. And if I could pick the person, I'm going to be that 9 a.m.

1:04.3

Mall walker when nobody is there, there's no lines. There's nothing going on. That's what I'm doing.

1:09.9

But, um, so we went on a Saturday, like in the evening.

1:14.0

And I had been hearing about the viral foundation, like makeup with Mario.

1:18.0

And like, I'm not changing my foundation.
