You know there are a few really exotic species in this world that just draw a hunter with a thirst for adventure and ibex is one that's always really appealed to me.

Typically you have to travel abroad to hunt those

to some pretty exotic places but there is an opportunity here in the United States

if you're lucky enough to draw a tag.

Let's welcome back on the air here, my good friend Landon Michaels with Gunworks, who was fortunate

enough to draw a New Mexico Ibex tag this year and he's just recently finished his hunt.

Yeah, you bet. Thanks for being willing to come on and share some of your experiences and kind of maybe

you know inspire a few of us, our listeners, and certainly me too, to possibly give this a try as well.

And what I'd like to do is just kind of walk through this whole thing,

what the hunt is, how you apply for a tag, how you prepare for it, appropriate

equipment and physical preparation, and then hunt methods, recovery methods,

because as I understand, things got pretty western

and vertical on your hunt.

And yeah.

A little bit, yeah.

Very cool.

So, start us from the beginning.

I mean, what inspired you to apply for this tag and where did you research and learn about it?

You know, growing up, you know, probably a lot like you and maybe I'm wrong, but I grew up in Utah hunting and it was pretty much deer and maybe if you got lucky every once in a while at Nellkunt and you know some

birds and whatever else but that was really like my entire hunting sphere right?
