Hello everybody and welcome to psychedelics today with your host David Drapkin speaking with Dr Rick Barnett.

So hopefully you know him, you've heard about him. He's such a lovely bloke.

Honestly, he really isn't. You're about to find out. He's just very warm and positive.

And he kind of draws people towards him with his energy. And I love what he's doing in this space

around the intersection of psychedelics, trauma and healing, addiction and recovery in

particular, and, you know, where it seems to be going with the forces coming from the Western

medical model and the institutional frameworks, all of that stuff. And then, you know, the new

money, the new ideas, the new people moving into the kind of psychedelic treatment medicine

world. And he's really trying to get the

conversations going and being fair and open and listening to what people are saying. And if it is

going to help people to heal and to know themselves, both wellness model and kind of clinical model,

then he wants to find ways to make it happen. Love what he's doing.

Love how Rick appreciates nature and the mountains and his dog and going hiking with his dog

up in the Vermont mountains. Lovely, lovely energy up there. He does talk a bit about his own experiences of addiction and recovery and the

frustrations around what a lot of psychologists experience because they can't prescribe medications

in much of America. And right now, because we're going through such a dearth of mental

health providers and it's so hard to find prescribers

for psychiatric medications.

That's a real part of his message and something he's working on throughout the country

kind of on many different battlefields.

One final thing to draw your attention to is an awesome event.
