My second interview, Herman Lopez, he's actually a New York Times reporter that is now part of the editorial board.

0:19.1

And actually, at the end of our conversation about policing in America, and he's been on

0:24.1

the criminal justice beat for a decade in various news organizations.

0:28.5

So I think you'll really appreciate the expertise that he provides and, frankly, a very

0:34.8

sober and dispassionate explanation of, you know, what are the explanations as to why, as to why we have so many unsolved murders?

1:54.1

This is, you don't understand.

2:01.2

More parts of DC today are great places to hang out and all of those things than ever before.

2:08.0

So if you're wondering in some ways why you're hearing different descriptions of D.C., do take note of how old the person is that's telling you this.

2:12.7

I think if you're somebody who's been in D.C. for the last 15 or 20 years, you have one, you know, it's all depends on where you, where your baseline was, right? And if that was your baseline, it feels as if D.C. is a little less secure than it was 15 or 20 years ago. If you're someone like me and remembered when the waterfront was not the best place to be, that where the Nationals Park is,
