So I'm a 24 year old female and I still live at home with my parents because honestly, I just cannot afford rent on my own right now. I am working on it, but it is a process. A while ago, I added my family to find my friends because it did seem harmless at the time. |
| 0:40.8 | I don't mind if they know where I am and I'm honestly pretty chill about it. But here's the thing. My mom is constantly checking my location. It's not just her saying, hey, what are you up to? Instead, it's a full-on interrogation. If I'm anywhere that she doesn't recognize, she will call or text me non-stop, asking me who I'm with and why I'm there, not to mention what I'm doing. It's honestly been making me feel like I can't live my own life without her micromanaging me. And the worst part about it is that I've been seeing someone for a couple of months now. The first time I went to his house, I told my mom and she completely freaked out. She spam called me, telling me that it was too soon, and that I shouldn't get intimate with him. I felt so embarrassed like I was back in high school or something like that. So now I've started lying, saying that I'm just with friends or out doing random things to avoid interrogation. But here's where I might be the jerk. When I finally turned off location sharing for a bit, because it was honestly getting ridiculous, my mom went off on me. She said to me, I'm your mother and I'm just worried about you. And you should be grateful I even care. And now because of this, she's accusing me of lying and hiding things from her. I get that she's worried, but I'm an adult. And honestly, I just want some privacy. So seriously, am I the jerk for refusing to share my location with her? Because right now, I seriously don't know what to do. Yeah, your mom is absolutely out of line. The fact that she's freaking out on you because you turned off your location tracking, all because she was being a weirdo about it, in my opinion, is completely justified. Like, who in the right mind would go to their 24-year-old daughter and be like, you need to turn that on right now? You shouldn't be at your boyfriend's house. How dare you do that? Because at that point, if I was in the original poster shoes, then I absolutely would have to be like, yeah, I got to start lying to this lady because she's being so weird. So to the original poster, no, you don't have to turn on your location, and you're definitely not the jerk for deciding to cut her out. Because the way she's acting, in my opinion, is incredibly toxic. And you do not deserve that kind of interrogation in the slightest. If you like Am I the Jerk, you're probably going to love |
