Hello there and welcome to another episode of the AT Parenting Survival Podcast.

Today I want to talk about something that's really important for all of us, raising kids

with anxiety or OCD should know.

And that is agoraphobia.

And I'm going to go into what agoraphobia is, but to keep it simple, I found this definition

that I really liked because I thought it was pretty all encompassing.

And it said agoraphobia is a fear of being in situations where escape might be difficult

or that help wouldn't be available if things go wrong.

And I thought it was a really good summary because sometimes we think of agoraphobia as

just the fear of leaving your house.

But often it doesn't start off that big.

There are other subtle signs that someone is developing agoraphobic behavior.

And it's a really high risk for the kids that we have that we're raising with anxiety

and OCD.

And I'll talk about why that is and why this is such a common comorbid condition, especially

moving into adulthood.
