Summary

Change is hard on most kids, but it can be especially hard on anxious kids. So what happens when they have to change their teacher or therapist? It can be rough, especially if they were well bonded to the teacher or therapist before the change.

Change offers our kids the ability to practice flexibility and can build their adaptation skills. The question is how to do that - especially when they are devastated by the loss.

In this episode of the AT Parenting Survival Podcast, I talk about some ways to discuss this change with your child to help them transition successfully to a new teacher or therapist.

Today I'm going to talk to you about how to help kids change their teachers or their

0:33.6

therapists.

0:34.6

Initially, this topic was going to be just how to help kids change their therapists, but

0:39.8

I thought that might be really specific.

0:42.2

So changing your teacher, you know, somebody that your child loves and has felt really

0:47.4

bonded through the whole year is similar to changing therapists.

0:52.1

So I thought I could speak on both of those, make this a little bit more general.
