Summary

We want the best for our kids. We want our kids to blossom and live a happy fulfilling life. But when our kids start to struggle with anxiety or OCD we might think that rosy picture is gone forever. We might think we have to “cure” anxiety or OCD for them to be well again. But that’s the wrong way to look at it. We don’t need to “cure” them, because that’s actually an impossibility, we need to train them. Kids with anxiety or OCD can have a beautifully productive and happy life, but they need the right tools and the right training to go along with it.In this latest episode of the AT Parenting Survival Podcast, I talk about the importance in empowering our kids to help themselves and how to build their skills for long-term success. To join my FREE 3-Part Video Series: Survival Tools for Parents Raising Kids with Anxiety or OCD go to http://bit.ly/survivaltoolsforparents ***This podcast is for informational purposes only and should not be used to replace the guidance of a qualified professional.Let me become your $5 mini-coach. anxiety or OCD and how you help your child view it.

0:39.4

So I want to talk about one of the importance of empowering our kids to work on their anxiety or

0:45.4

OCD themselves and how we move from just addressing those symptoms that we're

0:51.0

seeing that can be very overwhelming to having a mindset of, I am going to

raise this little human being to be able to tackle their genetic predisposition or their genetic curse to anxiety or OCD so they can live a happy, healthy, wonderful life.

1:09.0

And that is a shift in thinking, because I think a lot of times when we are in the throes of seeing

symptoms and I get this with my three kids with anxiety and O. C. D. That we want to

cure it. We want to fix it. We want it to go away as fast as humanly possible.

And we have to shift our thinking, even when we're in the chaotic initial phases of understanding

anxiety and OCD, to realize that we have to shift

our parental perspective and our parental approaches on a permanent basis.

So I'm going to tell you how to do that, how to tweak it and the areas that I think are really important.
