Summary

Your son peeks his head out the window. His face pales. “Mom, is it supposed to rain today?” You look out the window. You see only one lonely cloud in the sky. “I don’t think so.” You respond. But you realize too late that your answer only fueled his concern. “You’re not sure?” He whines. You take a deep breath and prepare for the unraveling to begin. He does not disappoint. You know lots of kids are afraid of storms, but your child takes his fear to another level. ***This podcast is for informational purposes only and should not be used to replace the guidance of a qualified professional.Visit my website at www.ATparentingSurvival.comInterested in my AT Parenting Community Membership? Well, hello there, and welcome to another episode of the AT Parenting Survival

0:16.4

Podcast. Today I want to talk to you about weather because it's been kind of

0:22.0

crazy lately and I was going to talk about whether

0:26.5

anxiety anyway because I see that a lot in my practice and there are people who talk about it in our private Facebook group

0:35.5

which by the way if you're not a part of I will leave a link below because it's a great

0:40.1

Facebook group and I feel like I say that every single episode but if I do and you're

0:44.6

sitting there listening to this and you're like I'm not in that then you should be because

0:48.7

it's a great place. Anyway whether anxiety is a big deal. It's a big issue. But with all the craziness that's been going on lately with all these hurricanes, it's a bigger issue because it's triggering a lot of anxious kids.

1:05.0

So even if your child didn't have weather anxiety, they probably do now.

1:10.0

I don't mean a laugh, that's horrible. but it's just so much in the news and it's everywhere

1:16.3

that an anxious mind is definitely going to take that and file it away so in this

1:22.2

episode I want to talk to you about one just a little bit

1:26.8

about what you can do related to the current events going on in our world

1:32.1

related to weather but that's not the bulk of this

1:35.5

podcast. The bulk of it really is to talk to you just about general weather

1:39.6

anxiety. So let's talk about Harvey and Irma first because they're like the big problems in this world.

1:47.0

I think there's a couple of things to focus on and this is not for the kids necessarily who are in the path of major destruction

1:56.7

because that is a completely different podcast on how to handle things that are very

2:01.6

traumatic with anxious kids and that's not what this is

2:04.3

about but if you're somewhat in the area of the storm or you're going to be you want to focus
