| 0:25.0 | unfortunately I think that a lot of times those issues and anxiety |
| 0:28.0 | and unfortunately I think that a lot of times those issues are treated in two completely separate worlds. |
| 0:34.8 | You know, a lot of times sensory issues are treated in the occupational therapy world, |
| 0:39.4 | and anxiety obviously is treated in the child therapy world. But as a child therapist I can tell you |
| 0:44.8 | there is a huge overlap and a lot of parents that come and see me and start to |
| 0:50.2 | give me a history on their anxious kids will start to describe a kid with a lot of sensory issues. |
| 0:56.4 | And so I find myself not only being the child therapist to address the anxiety, |
| 1:00.7 | but I also have to support the parent and the child and teach them what sensory |
| 1:04.4 | processing is and how it's impacting their child. And a lot of times they're like |
| 1:09.5 | oh my gosh I had no idea this was a thing because they'll start describing their child and they'll say you know |
| 1:16.4 | she really hates the bumps in the socks she needs seamless socks you know it takes us |
| 1:21.6 | forever to get ready in the morning because she doesn't know what to wear. |
| 1:25.0 | She doesn't like tags. She likes only cotton clothes that are soft. She can't wear collars. |
| 1:32.0 | Things are too tight. things are too loose, her shoes have to be |
| 1:36.3 | really tight, or her shoes have to be really loose, or she can't wear sneakers, she has to |
| 1:41.4 | wear flip-flops, or crocs, forget about jeans, that's just totally |
| 1:45.8 | out of the question. And I'll be really lucky if I can even get near her hair, let alone do any fancy |
| 1:51.8 | little style to it. |
