Hello everyone, hope you're all doing well, I'm Samuel Poots, an associate editor at

Cast of Wonders, the Young Adult Fiction Podcast, and your host for this week.

This April 1st, we have taken over Soodapod towers in order to bring a bit of cheer to

these hallowed halls of horror.

Honestly, it's so gloomy in here even the skulls which whisper promises into your dreams

have stopped grinning.

To this end, we have three wonderful flash stories, all weaving together fear and fun to reach

through sound waves, skin and muscle to tickle your funny bone.

Without further ado, our first story is The Tentacle and You by John Wiswell, originally

published in Nature Futures back in 2019.

John, at Wiswell, is a disabled writer who lives when New York keeps all its trees.

He is a nebula winner as well as a finalist for the Hugo, World Fantasy, British Fantasy

and Locust Awards.

He is now a finalist for two more nebula rewards for his novelette, that story isn't the

story, and his short story for lack of a bed.
