Hi everyone, welcome to Sudapod The Weekly Horror Podcast. I'm Alistair, your host, and this week continues our experiment

with a long-form three-part story by Laird Barron. The narration is once again by the incomparable John Padgett. So without further ado, please allow me to take an item off the list of things I have always wanted to say on a live mic.

Previously on Sudapod. Two couples, Willem and Glenn, Dane and Victor, go on a camping trip to the Pacific Northwest, which Willem uses as an excuse to investigate some leads

and details from a mysterious occult Gazatia, known as the Black Guide, which he discovers in a bookstore.

Having talked to the previous owner of the book by phone,

Willem is visited in the night by a mysterious phantom presence,

wearing the form of Thomas, a deceased acquaintance of Glenn, Dane, Fictus. The visitor ominously assures

Willem that he is not there to dissuade them from a planned hiking side trip

to a cult-linked stone dolmen in the woods, but instead he intimates darker forces are afoot.

The next morning Victor confirms that himself, Thomas and Dane were involved in the occult

in their youth and that Thomas's death was not as simple as previously related,

amounting to a sudden mystifying disappearance in the wilderness.

Sequim.

Sequim, pronounced squim by the locals was lovely that summer.

The town rested near the Dungeness River at the heart of a shallow basin of the Dungeness Sequim Valley,

and not far from the bay, fields of lavender and poppies and tulips

dominated the countryside.
