0:00.0	Hey friends, I'm Rachel Grohl and I'm your host for the Hearing Jesus podcast, where I help you to know God and to make him known.
0:11.0	I think sometimes we look at God's sovereignty through the lens of judgment. And while that's true, and we certainly see a God who intervenes and we deal with his judgment
0:23.5	when we have been disobedient, whether that is personally or corporately as a body of Christ
0:28.8	or even as a country, but we also have to remember that part of God's sovereignty is blessing.
0:34.5	And that's the primary way that he wants to interact with humanity. The judgment
0:39.1	portion is because it's a consequence of our actions. But this idea of blessing should be part of
0:45.5	this idea of sovereignty. Today we are reading through Psalm 94. And if you're just joining us,
0:50.5	we're doing a devotional reading through one Psalm a day. And the reason why we're doing
0:55.1	that is because essentially the Psalms was the hymn book and prayer book of Jesus and the disciples.
1:02.0	And in fact, he references, they reference the book of Psalms more than any other Old Testament book.
1:07.8	And so if it's important for Jesus to read and understand, it's important
1:11.8	for us to read and understand. Amen. And we know that God's word is the primary way he speaks to us.
1:18.0	And so that's why we're digging into the scriptures the way that we are. So I'm reading from the
1:22.5	NIV and Psalm 94, starting at verse 1. Oh, Lord, the God who avenges, O God who avenges, shine forth.
1:30.8	Rise up, O judge of the earth. Pay back to the proud what they deserve.
1:35.1	How long will the wicked, O Lord, how long will the wicked be jubilant?
1:39.2	They pour out arrogant words.
1:41.3	All the evil doers are full of boasting.
1:43.8	They crush your people,
1:45.1	O Lord. They oppress your inheritance. They slay the widow and the alien. They murder the fatherless.
1:50.9	They say the Lord does not see. The God of Jacob pays no heed. Take heed, you senseless ones,
1:57.1	among the people. You fools, when will you become wise? Does he who implanted the ear, not here?
