Summary

Psalms for the Soul: Psalm 115: Daily Bible Study, Daily Devotional, Hearing Jesus   When we see repetition in the Scriptures, it should cause us to take notice. Repetition means God wants us to pay attention. Today the phrase, “He is our help and shield,” is repeated for us in a way that calls us to praise Him in all things. I pray this episode is a blessing to you. Today’s Key Verse: May the Lord cause you to flourish, both you and your children. May you be blessed by the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Sometimes it's really difficult not to brag about all the things that we've accomplished in our lives, especially for hard workers.

0:22.3

But what today's Psalm does is it helps us remember that the praise for where we're at or what

we've done or what we've accomplished really needs to rest with God because he is the one

0:32.9

that elevates us and puts us in those positions. And while I don't want to discredit hard work,

0:38.1

because of course, hard work is part of this, but so many times we take credit for the things that

are only possible because of God's blessing in our lives. I'm reading from the NIV today, and I'm

starting at verse 1 of Psalm 115. Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to you, your name be the glory because of your love and faithfulness.

Our God is in heaven.

1:01.1

He does whatever pleases him, but their idols are silver and gold made by human hands.

They have mouths but cannot speak, eyes but cannot see.

They have ears but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell. They have hands but cannot see they have ears but cannot hear noses but cannot smell

1:12.6

They have hands but cannot feel feet but cannot walk nor can they utter a sound with their throats

1:18.6

Those who make them will be like them and so will all who trust in them

1:22.6

All you Israelites trust in the Lord he is their help and shield House of Aaron trust in Lord. He is their help and shield. House of Aaron, trust in the Lord. He is their help and shield. You who fear him, trust in the Lord. He is their help and shield. The Lord remembers us and will bless us. He will bless his people, Israel. He will bless the House of Aaron. He will bless those who fear the Lord, small and great alike.

May the Lord cause you to flourish, both you and your children. May you be blessed by the Lord,

the maker of heaven and earth. The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to

mankind. It is not the dead who praise the Lord. Those who go down to the place of silence. It is we who extol the Lord, both now and forevermore.

Praise the Lord.

2:06.4

So today's Psalm is one that would be considered a community song.
