Hi there, this is Mary Demuth and this is Pray Every Day, where I pray you through the Bible

verse by verse. It's such a joy to do so. And I just want to pray for someone grieving right now.

Lord Jesus, in our culture, we think we should be over a death in a week and that is simply not true it takes so

so long to move through the the contours of grief and so lord i pray for my friend who is carrying

that heavy weight right now and i pray that you would be the lifter of their grief i pray that you

would carry them through this i pray that you would send grieving friends who wouldn't try to make them

get over something quickly, but would sit with them in their grief. Lord, thank you that you are a man

of sorrows acquainted with grief and that you grieve alongside us. And thank you for that in Jesus' name.

Amen. All right, today I'm reading Psalm 146 and 147 in the World English Bible. I'll pause after each and pray for you.

146 says this.

Praise Yahweh.

Praise Yahweh my soul.

While I live, I praise Yahweh.

I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist.

Don't put your trust in princes in a son of man in whom there is no help. His spirit departs and he

returns to the earth. In that very day, his thoughts perish. Happy is he who has the God of Jacob

for his help, whose hope is in Yahweh his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them, who keeps truth

forever, who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry.

Yahweh frees the prisoners.

Yahweh opens the eyes of the blind.

He raises up those who are bowed down.

He loves the righteous.
