Boston now. So again we are recording on the phone, and we are answering a question from a

reader.

I actually don't have her name because her name was not attached to the email.

But I will still answer the question, anonymous reader.

Here we go.

Her question is, how do I properly pick tomato leaves to get bigger and better tomatoes and I think what she's

asking here is how to prune tomatoes so that you get big juicy delicious high

producing tomatoes.

The question really is split into two parts

because tomatoes come in two different main categories.

You have determinate tomatoes,

and you have indeterminate tomatoes.

Determinate tomatoes will not grow past about five feet tall.

However, indeterminate tomatoes will grow in almost a vining type way, where they'll grow anywhere

from 10 to 12 feet high.

So there are advantages and disadvantages to both of these types of tomatoes.

Indeterminate tomatoes will do extremely well on a trellis, either a actual standard trellis

or maybe a string trellis.

And a lot of people will say actually indeterminate tomatoes

are better because they produce tomatoes
