Today's talk comes from Pastor Ben Stewart

and is a continuation of a series entitled Survival Spots. Well I worked for my dad one summer in Beeville, Texas while I was in high school and it was it was cowboy work it was mending fences and

digging ditches and hurting the cattle that I may or may not have accidentally

let out on the freeway stuff like that and if you're not familiar with South Texas, it easily gets up over 100

degrees.

And so this was real character-building kind of work, like the kind of work that you never want to have to do again, you know?

But I remember when I was out there, one day my dad came to me and he was like,

hey, then, do you see that huge pile of brush out back?

And I was like, yeah, it's like taller than the house.

Yes, I see it.

And he was like, yeah, I want you to burn it down.

And I was like, dream come true.

It is wired deep into the heart of a young man to want to burn things. And you've just offered me the pinnacle of the Mount Everest of lighting things on fire. This is incredible.

But at that moment I realized, you know, I was young.

Like the only fire I'd really started

was like in a barbecue pit, you know,

and I'm like, all right, it's kind of like that.
