The Port-Prol's Omnack began as a conversation between two friends on a road trip only a few months prior to the start of COVID.

Talking about the general state of things, it was clear that it didn't feel like things could continue the way they were.

The increasingly erratic nature of our political system and the disconnect of market forces from market realities highlighted how as individuals

we felt as though the world was becoming further and further untethered.

From what?

We weren't really sure.

After discussing what a podcast would look like and if it was even worth doing, the idea

subsided and then COVID struck.

The grim realization that our concerns were becoming realized that COVID was stressing the already

frayed state of our global commerce system made it abundantly clear that there was merit to our

concerns, that the United States was wildly unprepared for any global catastrophe,

and that our political system was ill-prepared for resistance from the right.

With things shut down, we went to work.

In August of 2020, on the heels of Ruth Bader Ginsburg's death in the impending Trump-Biden election,

we casually discussed our expectations of the 2020 election, and we

were discomfortingly correct.

We narrowed down three likely options.

Trump won, and things would continue to deteriorate.

The election wouldn't happen under the guise of some greater issue, a Trump manufactured swamp revolt or something along those lines,

or that Biden would win and that Trump would urge his followers to claim his rightful place as

president. My personal belief, as I explained in that episode, had been the latter, and I was right.
