Adam Wallace is back on the show today.

He is the natural resource manager for Sierra Nevada Brewing out at the Mills River North

Carolina location.

We've been talking a lot about really all sorts of different techniques that they're using

at that location to make better use of the landscape, improve the landscape, and of course

that comes to the plants.

We haven't really talked too much about plants themselves so far, and today we're talking

about propagating specifically, so I'm curious what just your overall propagation setup and

approach looks like over there right now, Adam.

So we do a few different methods.

The first one is very simple.

Broadcasting seeds, water flower seeds, you can broadcast those, or you can make your own

starts in a hoop house or a high tunnel.

Sewing seeds, it's good old fashioned sexual regeneration.

There's not a lot that you have to do to make it happen, but the factors that you can

control are heat, light, water, and oxygen.

You get all those four right, and you'll have some nice plants to transplant.

Some of the others that I'm more interested in, and really kind of high on these days, some

asexual cloning.

We've been doing a lot of air layering lately, which works well with forest woodland shrubs.

We've done a lot of rhododendrons, and flame azaleas here in North Carolina in the past
