Summary

EPISODE 10!

In today's episode, Alex and I reflect on this project. We go through what went well, what we think we could have done better, and the biggest takeaways from the past ten weeks. We also dive into how to approach your off-season both mentally and physically and close out with some parting words of wisdom from Alex.

I hope you all enjoy today's episode as much as we did recording it. Considering sharing it with a friend if you enjoyed it or have enjoyed any of the episodes in the past! This is the quickest way we can grow.

About this series: Introducing Project 2:59!

Over the next nine weeks, I will be documenting my preparation and lead-up to the 2023 Columbus Marathon that will take place on October 15.

This will be my first attempt at the marathon distance, and I have set the ambitious goal of running 2:59 or faster to break the three-hour barrier and qualify for a future edition of The Boston Marathon.

Coaching me will be Alex Ostberg, a seven-time All-American who holds PRs of 3:58 in the Mile, 7:49 in the 3k, and 13:18 in the 5k. He has a Bachelor's Degree in human biology, a minor in psychology, and a master's in public health.

I will take you behind the scenes on my training, mindset, and more each week via podcast with Alex. We will dive into the ins and outs of marathon training, seeking to provide you value along the way.

I will also be documenting the training on social media so you can visually see the training and follow in a more in-depth way than ever before!

0:06.9

Leader, and today is the finale, the final episode of this series, episode 10. In today's conversation,

0:13.4

Alex and I recap and reflect on this project and series as a whole, we talked through some things

0:19.2

we think we did really well, some things we think we could have done better, the biggest takeaways from this project,

0:24.6

as well as some reflective processes that you can go through for your own training,

0:29.9

racing, and seasons overall. I really enjoyed this discussion. It was very enjoyable to just

0:35.5

have a reflective conversation and think through the things

0:38.4

we did well, the things we could have done better, and then some steps moving forward. I greatly

0:42.5

appreciate your support in this project in this series. It's been so fun interacting with so many

0:46.7

of you. I hope that you found value from this series from this project. And I'm hoping to do many

0:52.4

things similar to it in the future. So stay tuned for that.

0:55.8

Two quick notes before we hop into today's episode. If you've enjoyed this series thus far,

1:00.8

I would greatly appreciate you guys doing three things, giving us a follow and a five-star

1:04.9

review on Spotify or Apple Podcasts. It legitimately takes between five and 10 seconds to hit

1:09.4

those two buttons and then sharing your

1:11.5

favorite episode of the podcast with a friend, a family member, a teammate, someone who you think would

1:15.7

find value and benefit from it. Then my second note is that Project 259 is presented by and has

1:21.3

been presented by Final Surge, who have been an absolute joy to work with. Just one note on them

1:26.1

today. If you're a high school or collegiate coach,

1:28.3

one of the very cool things about Final Surge is that their co-founder is also a high school

1:32.6

coach as their way of giving back to the sport they love.

1:35.6

Final Surge has discounted pricing for schools in collegiate universities.
