Summary

EPISODE 6!

In today's episode, Alex and I recap my best week of training in quite some time. We dive into two specific workouts on opposite ends of the spectrum. We then go into two subjects about controlling the contrallbes and the next logical step. I hope you all enjoy this episode as much as we did recording it!

About this series: Introducing Project 2:59!

Over the next nine weeks, I will be documenting my preparation and lead-up to the 2023 Columbus Marathon that will take place on October 15.

This will be my first attempt at the marathon distance, and I have set the ambitious goal of running 2:59 or faster to break the three-hour barrier and qualify for a future edition of The Boston Marathon.

Coaching me will be Alex Ostberg, a seven-time All-American who holds PRs of 3:58 in the Mile, 7:49 in the 3k, and 13:18 in the 5k. He has a Bachelor's Degree in human biology, a minor in psychology, and a master's in public health.

I will take you behind the scenes on my training, mindset, and more each week via podcast with Alex. We will dive into the ins and outs of marathon training, seeking to provide you value along the way.

I will also be documenting the training on social media so you can visually see the training and follow in a more in-depth way than ever before!

six. We're on the back half of this project in series, which is incredibly exciting. In today's

0:14.4

episode, we recap my most recent training, including my first big test in regards to the marathon.

0:22.6

I had a big marathon-paced long-run workout, I guess you would call it. And then I also had another workout, 400, so

0:27.4

literally the complete opposite spectrum. We recap that in more of my training in today's episode.

0:32.7

We also talk about a few concepts, such as controlling the controllables, dealing with adversity,

0:38.2

which I dealt with a ton of adversity in my long run, as you'll come to here. It's quite funny.

0:43.3

And then we also talk about the next logical step, what that means, what that looks like for me

0:47.7

and many other subjects. So today's episode was another fun one in the books, and I hope you guys

0:52.7

enjoy it and find a value from it.

Two quick notes for you. If you enjoyed today's episode or have enjoyed this series so far,

0:59.2

please consider giving us a follow and a five-star review as well as sharing today's episode or the project in general with a friend, a family member, a teammate,

someone who you think would find value and benefit from it. And then my second note for you is that Project 259 is presented by a Final Surge. Final Surge, in my opinion, is the one-stop shop for

1:16.3

the relationship between athlete and coach. Alex and I use it exclusively for my training. And it

1:22.4

has been an absolute privilege and pleasure using the platform and incredibly beneficial to execute the

1:28.8

training and see what Alex is prescribing and all that fun stuff.

1:32.4
