Summary

EPISODE 2!

Today is all about (or 90% about, I suppose) injuries. I had a little hiccup last week, so Alex and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to address the topic that I'm sure you are all too familiar with: injuries. I first recap the little hiccup I had over the weekend before picking Alex's brain on all things injuries. I hope you find as much value from this conversation as I did! Share with a friend if you're reading this (: and leave a comment below on Spotify to let me know your thoughts on how you liked this episode!

About this series: Introducing Project 2:59!

Over the next nine weeks, I will be documenting my preparation and lead-up to the 2023 Columbus Marathon that will take place on October 15.

This will be my first attempt at the marathon distance, and I have set the ambitious goal of running 2:59 or faster to break the three-hour barrier and qualify for a future edition of The Boston Marathon.

Coaching me will be Alex Ostberg, a seven-time All-American who holds PRs of 3:58 in the Mile, 7:49 in the 3k, and 13:18 in the 5k. He has a Bachelor's Degree in human biology, a minor in psychology, and a master's in public health.

I will take you behind the scenes on my training, mindset, and more each week via podcast with Alex. We will dive into the ins and outs of marathon training, seeking to provide you value along the way.

I will also be documenting the training on social media so you can visually see the training and follow in a more in-depth way than ever before!

You can listen wherever you find your podcasts by searching, "The Running Effect Podcast." Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to Project 259. Today is episode two. And unfortunately,

0:09.5

this past week, I underwent a little bit of a hiccup and a small injury. And while it was

0:14.4

unfortunate and I had to take a few days off, it did make for an incredibly insightful episode

0:19.5

today and an awesome opportunity to dive

0:22.1

into injuries and how to deal with injuries, the practical, scientific, mental, physical,

0:27.7

all the different elements that go into injuries and truly how to get over them.

0:31.6

Every single one of you listening right now, I guarantee has underwent an injury and is

0:36.0

potentially going through one right now.

0:37.7

So I think today's episode was an awesome opportunity to tackle a subject that is far too common,

0:44.7

but there isn't too many resources out there.

0:47.6

And I pull from Alex's fancy degrees and studies over the years and personal experiences

0:53.8

as an incredibly accomplished

0:55.2

athlete to kind of pick his brain on how to get through injuries. So today's conversation was

1:00.1

incredibly insightful and incredibly enjoyable. I thoroughly found value from it and hope you guys

1:05.3

will say the same after listening all the way through. One quick note before we hop into the

1:10.4

episode. If you have not

1:11.5

already done so, I would greatly appreciate you guys giving us a follow, a five-star review,

1:15.2

and sharing with a friend who you think will benefit from it. And then one final note,

1:18.9

this whole project is presented by Final Surge. Final Surge is the platform that Alex is using

1:24.3

to coach me and the platform we are using to communicate with each other

1:28.6

in our pursuit of a sub three hour marathon. If you're not familiar, Final Surge is a training

1:33.7

platform and app for athletes, coaches, and teams. Some of the most notable organizations that use
