Summary

Why SAG-AFTRA is on strike: https://www.sagaftrastrike.org/why-we-strike    Without the work of writers and actors, our podcast about Star Wars would not exist. We’re in full solidarity with SAG-AFTRA and the WGA and we’ll be back talking about our favorite stories when they get a fair deal. Hey everyone, it's Charlotte and Caitlin, and we want to talk a little bit about the SAG

0:04.0

After Strike and what it means for Sky Talkers. The SAG After Strike has started about a month ago now

0:10.8

at the time that we're recording this. If you're not following us on social media, we've posted

0:15.2

a little bit about the plans for Sky Talkers during this strike, but we thought it was best to kind of come on the

0:23.0

actual podcast and talk a little bit about the strike itself and kind of what it means for

0:29.2

Skytalkers going forward. To put it kind of bluntly, we are going on kind of a full hiatus right

0:36.4

now during the SAG after strike. And that is not fun,

0:41.5

honestly, but it is what we feel is the right move right now. Obviously, we want to stand in solidarity

0:46.6

with what's going on in Hollywood with both SAG After and the WGA, who is also on strike right now.

0:53.2

And the SAG After has released a lot of FAQs

0:57.5

about different types of, you know, basically content creators. So for influencers and

1:02.2

podcasters, which we kind of felt like we fell into both categories. And after reviewing what

1:07.4

they had to say about, you know, talking about struck work from

1:11.2

Struck Studios, et cetera, it really felt like the best option for Charlton and I and for the

1:18.1

podcast and to show solidarity with what was going on right now and our support of the things

1:23.3

that these actors and writers want. It felt like going on hiatus during the strike was the best

1:29.5

option for us. Yeah. And it's not a move that we really want to make, but it feels like the move

1:34.6

that is the right move for standing in solidarity. And I think that there has been, and I want to

1:42.3

address the fact that we haven't, it's been a month since the strike happened and we haven't said anything on the podcast. But to be honest, we didn't know if the strike would be over the next day, if it would be a week, if it would be two weeks. It has now been almost a month. And it felt like the moment we put out something, maybe that would be null and void and who knows that could

2:01.2

still happen and we really hope it does because I think we want to get back to talking about

2:06.2

the stuff that we love and we want also the actors and the writers and the people who make the

2:11.2

stuff that we love and have been on our podcast and everything like that right we want them to get a fair
