And the clue is in the title, particularly on the first word.

The risk of getting to my age is that you can not infrequently be mistaken for somebody who knows what's happening,

or how to carry on. and you only have to take a

quick look around the world to see how that's going and how my generation are managing the planet for

instance i mean you may have picked up a few things along the way which might be of use like i don't

know parking or online shopping or not taking cocaine, obviously. But other than that,

in all the big, important things, I remain profoundly in the dark. But I try and keep a straight face

when people start acting weird. I had an eye operation, not that long ago, where I had lens replacement, which is,

you know, I don't even want to know what they did. I said to the doctor, don't tell me what

you're going to do because I don't want to hear about it. And actually, it was perfectly painless.

They do one eye one week and a second eye in the second week and they put bandages overnight and in the

morning you're allowed to take the bandages off and when I took the bandages off in the bathroom

the following morning after the first eye I realized how old I was I mean I kind of knew how old I

was before but I didn't really know how old I was. And then you think, oh, I see.

This is why people are acting, like, weirdly around me.

This is why people sort of, you know, look at you expectantly on occasion.

Like you might have something important to say.

They never used to do that when I was younger.

Anyway, my credentials are that I'm someone who got almost everything

almost precisely wrong in early times.
