This is CBS I Am The World. I'm John Batser. This is Hotel Mars episode

0:09.0

end with Dr. David Livingston of the space show, Dr. Space himself, and we're very

0:14.0

pleased to welcome our longtime colleague, Dr. David Grinspoon of the Planetary

0:19.0

Science Institute, because we're dealing with Venus. The other planet that has

0:26.0

a great promise in our solar system, rocky and wet once upon a time, maybe in

0:31.0

future. And we welcome David Grinspoon because all these years, David has been

0:36.0

my guide on Venus. And for many years, David would quietly suggest that Venus was

Dr. Grinspoon, a very good evening to you. The meeting that caught my attention to

0:57.0

invite you today at Hotel Mars is Benira D., Venus Cloud Habitability System Workshop.

time and their role in potential habitability. David Grinspoon, this is you. The

1:21.0

first time we met, you were life in the Venus clouds. What has happened? How have

1:26.0

you become mainstream in a mere 17 years? Good evening to you, David.

1:30.0

Good evening. It's very nice to see and hear both of you. Yeah, you know, it's

1:35.0

funny. I think if you if you have a fringe idea and hold on to it for enough years,

1:40.0

or in this case decades, then you just may become mainstream if you're if you're

1:45.0

lucky or wise. And I fought from early on in my career when I started studying

1:53.0

Venus that the clouds were a possible place of habitability. And I urged this in

1:59.0

books and papers and talks. And I think I was sort of tolerated by my colleagues
