Today I want to talk about abortion. And the reason that this is foremost in my mind this morning is that

I just got finished reading three newspapers.

And what was very interesting about all three is that the headlines regarding Afghanistan

have now been replaced with headlines regarding abortion.

The Charlotte Observer, our local newspaper in Charlotte, North Carolina, talks about the six-week abortion ban which took effect in Texas.

USA Today says that states are now testing the limits of Roe versus Wade

and that Texas law is un-American.

That is advertised on the front page and later is followed up in the opinion section.

The Wall Street Journal talks about how Texas abortion law has taken effect,

a law that bars abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy.

All of this again taking effect on Wednesday, yesterday.

And I thought in light of the headlines, it would be well for me to simply remind people

about some scientific realities, about the fact that it is scientifically correct to say that an individual human life begins at conception,

that the human nature of a human being from conception to old age is not, is not a metaphysical contention.

It is plain old scientific fact that the beginning of life is not a matter of theological bias. It is an established scientific fact. And so while an embryo does not have a

fully developed personality, it does have full personhood from the moment of conception.

So if you want to follow the science, there it is.

When you terminate an unborn child, you are terminating a being that fulfills the criteria that is necessary

for establishing the existence of biological life.

We're talking about metabolism and development, about the ability to react to stimuli and cell reproduction.

And thus, a child made in the image of God with a totally distinct genetic code,
