First two women I was asked to see had such broad East End accents. I literally hardly understood

what they were saying. You know, I hardly responded because I didn't really understand what they were saying.

No one had given me a little dictionary with prison terminology, so I didn't know what the block was or what Remand was or what any of these words were.

But Holloway was my learning

ground and every week I went in, I learned new things about white people in prison and at the

end of my four years that I worked there, I could count on literally one hand the women I met

who had grown up in loving homes, Mostly they'd come from abusive homes.

and she's had an incredible journey.

Emmy has been involved in all sorts of stuff, but her main life work for about 30 years,

recently retired, but it was Alpha Prison's work.

Can we go back to your childhood?

Any sort of key moments there? One of four sisters, four girls and parents who attended church

would have called themselves Christians. Went to boarding school where I had to attend church,

which I found extremely boring.
