This is a podcast about Amazon, brought to you by Jacobin Magazine.

My name is Alex Press and I'll be the host, though I'll always be joined by my producer

Sarah Hurd, as well as the guests who will guide us through the many facets of this enormous

company.

I decided to do this show because Amazon touches everything.

There it's retail operations in the United States and around the world.

There's Amazon Web Services, an engine of immense profits.

There's also Alexa, Ring, Kindle, Whole Foods, Recognition.

There's the new MGM purchase.

There's Amazon's interest in all sorts of markets, healthcare, for example.

There are the stories about Amazon's working conditions, for warehouse workers, for delivery

drivers, but also for pilots, software engineers, mechanical turkers.

Some of the problems with these conditions are well known, but some aren't.

And given how many people work these jobs, the specifics of this exploitation deserve

even more attention.

There's also the company's impact on the environment.

There's its collaboration with police departments.

It's revolving door with the US government.

And what about Bezos' extraterrestrial interests?

It's impossible to keep track of all of this.
