to economic performance and public services in the West Midlands.

Mr. Mr. Speaker, I'm sure the whole House will wish to join me in offering condolences to the family friends and colleagues of police constable James

Dixon from Thames Valley Police who was killed while on motorcycle duty yesterday and also

to the family and friends of the passenger in the car involved in the collision. I'm sure the

whole house will also wish to join me in offering condonances to the family and friends of the former member of this House, Jim Hood,

who was a former minor and a strong voice for Lanarkshire in this place for nearly 30 years.

Mr Speaker, this morning I had meetings with ministerial colleagues and others.

In addition to my duties in this House, I shall have further such meetings later today. Ruth George
