In the previous chapters, Darcy and his sister Georgina visit Elizabeth at her inn during her tour, accompanied by Bingley.

After a brief visit, they invite Elizabeth and the gardeners to dine at Pemberley,

where the gardeners sense Darcy's affection for their niece.

The next morning, Elizabeth and Mrs. Gardner returned to Pemberley to call on Miss Darcy.

During the visit, Miss Bingley makes some cutting remarks,

nearly inadvertently causing some discomfort for Georgina.

Later, Miss Bingley tries to belittle Elizabeth to Darcy,

but he responds by praising Elizabeth as one of the most handsome women he knows.
