This is John Batchel, conversation with my good friend, Gene Marks,

small business columnist for the Guardian newspaper at the Philadelphia Enquirer.

The raging question right now in federal government and across America is work from home,

come back to the office, say managers and owners.

Especially, we're told early days, Doge, Mr. Ramoswamy and Mr. Musk,

the federal government is largely made up of people, as far as I can tell,

who do not work from their offices in D.C. They work from home.

And they report feeling better about their jobs, more productivity, except it looks like they're going to be obliged to come back to the office.

The union that represents the employees is said to be obliged to come back to the office. The union that represents the

employees is said to be ready to fight. So here's Gene's thoughts. Gene Marks on work from home,

what is to be done for employers? More of this later. Well, you would think, first of all,

as a business owner, I'd be, you know, more on the side of get those employees back to work and, you know, make them work in the office and all that.

And it's actually not true.

I mean, you're right, John, the federal government, well, actually, it's Elon Musk and Vivek, Bassem Johnny, they're with their efficiency thing, they're going to recommend to the president that he requires all workers,
