Speaking with George Friedman of Geopolitical Futures of his 2009 book, talking about the next 10 or 100 years,

he identified Poland as a coming power. When I read that book in 2009, it struck me as unusual.

Poland, along under the boot of the Soviet Union, emerging, yes, but still, gathering its strength in 2009.

Today, George's case is perfectly made. Ukraine wore a Poland as, at the front lines of the NATO confrontation with the Russian Federation.

Belarus is provoking or taunting or, in other ways, misbehaving right across the border. It's an easy border to cross one way from Poland to Belarus.

However, George makes the case for how he came to identify Poland 14 years ago as the emerging power, the enforcer of NATO. Here's George.

Other countries. When you look at Europe, historically, it has a center of gravity militarily.

When I wrote this book, and today, it doesn't have that military force. The British, not an accountant, are that powerful.

The French like to talk about their power, but it's not there. But I saw that there was no other competitor.

In other words, someone is going to realize that there was someone who was the one that was most in danger.

And the country that was most in danger was Poland, because I saw the Russians coming back and trying to take at least Ukraine and more.

And so, it seemed to me that the other countries had no interest in being powerful.

There were Poland would become powerful, and it formed an alliance of the United States that was very useful to it and the United States.

And as a result, it was an active alliance, not a piece of paper.

We find Poland today the country that is most likely to intervene in Ukraine, and perhaps the most significant active military force in Europe.
