This is John Batchelor, conversation later today with Charles Spicer, the author of the

amazing and overwhelmingly new information. Coffee with Hitler, the untold story of the amateur spies

who tried to civilize the Nazis. This begins in Hitler's rise to power in 1933, and corporations in London were looking for a way to maintain their profit on the mainland in Germany,

at the same time deal with the horrors in the news in 33 to 34 to the night of the long knives.

Unilever was a frontier worker in Germany,

and what it needed was an organization that would look like rapprochement.

So formed the Anglo-German Fellowship.

There was a comparable organization in Berlin. Men and leaders of

companies and other hangers on going back and forth having dinners with each other and looking to build

a dialogue between London and Berlin. It came to disaster.

However, the effort also created conditions

for very good information to flow back and forth.
