This is John Bachelor. I speak with my good colleague Mary Kessel, the Executive Vice President

Stevens Incorporated, former senior advisor to the Secretary of State, of the Democratic

and Republican stumble when it comes to Ukraine war.

Mary is blunt. In the Republican Party, this is isolationism.

In the Democratic Party, it's a want of leadership.

Here's Mary.

Well, I think sitting in the United States, the Ukraine war feels far away.

It doesn't feel that way in places like Poland for instance or the Baltic states or

nations like the Czech Republic that have experienced Soviet oppression within

you know living lifetimes of people in Prague.

So it takes U.S. leadership to stand up and to explain, hey, this is American public why we're sending money to Ukraine.

This is our strategic goal in the conflict.

This is why it benefits American national security for us to do these things.

And President Biden really hasn't done very much of that.

And so the result is Republicans questioning what we're doing,

why we're spending the money, what are the strategic goals,
